Fall Tour 09: Day 1

We're on the road. Officially. We left Lee at 6 p.m. this evening and drove six hours to Charlotte, NC. Tomorrow, we're singing at First Baptist Church-Charlotte at a very different event called Power Hour. It is a luncheon that the church puts on for business leaders that has elements of both spiritual and business focus time. The luncheon serves as a networking time for the business leaders, as well as a time of reflection on the spiritual aspects of their jobs and lives.

Tomorrow evening, we're singing at the church's Wednesday evening service. Everyone is tired tonight from bus travel and excitement about tour. It's almost 1 a.m. and we're finally settled in to go to bed. Please continue to remember the Lee Singers as our tour performances begin tomorrow. We're so excited for what God is going to do on this trip!

It's Been A Long Time...

It's been a long time since this blog has been updated. Summer break is over, we're back from Germany, and we're starting the year off strong with three performances already under our belts. The first was at Westmore Church of God in our home town, Cleveland, Tenn. The services went well. We were eager to share our new songs with the congregation. The second performance was quite an honor to be a part of. We sang three songs at the Cry Out America gathering in downtown Cleveland on September 11, part of the Awakening America Alliance initiative. We joined in strong prayers with our local government and church leaders for God to move in our distressed nation and awaken our hearts to His will. It was wonderful to be a part of such a great cause. There was a large crowd that came out for the event and the participation was encouraging. Check out more about the Awakening America Alliance online at: awakeningamerica.us

Our most recent performance was this morning at Peerless Road Church of God of Prophecy. The service was awesome with a beautiful presence of our Holy Spirit. Lives were touched, both on and off the risers. We all look forward to what God has in store for the choir in performances to come. May we always be used as willing vessels for God's purpose and Glory. Amen.

Must See in Germany

We'll be close to this restaurant in Germany. It's the only one of its kind in the world and the first innovative technology to begin changing our dining experiences.

Germany Blog

In order to keep things organized and to keep from mixing the Germany Tour information with all other Lee Singer updates, there is a new blog dedicated just to Germany information and updates. The blog URL is singeringermany.blogspot.com and it will be where we direct all our donors for information about the tour as well as pictures, videos, and any posts specifically about the tour. This is the blog that will be updated even during the tour with information and news. I know this can seem a little confusing, but this will keep the content much more organized. If anyone has anything they would like posted on the Germany blog or the Singers blog, email the PR Coordinator at theleesingers@gmail.com. Posts "from the risers" keep the blog interesting and updated, so don't hesitate to send an interesting story or testimony. Thanks for your participation... Once a Singer, Always a Singer!

Germany Tour Update

Here we are in the midst of our Germany Tour planning and God is blessing each of the Singers daily with personal donations from family members and friends. Each student must raise $2000 for the trip and every donation that comes in puts us closer to reaching that mark. Also, we've just begun our music preparation for the tour including songs like "Battle Hymn of the Republic" in the style of the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and "God Bless America" arranged by Darmon Meader. Although there have been numerous complications with travel arrangements due to the state of our economy and other details, the tour schedule is currently being finalized. An approximate schedule will be posted soon with cities, dates, and performance venues. If you would like to donate to the Lee Singers' Germany Tour, please contact Dr. Brad Moffett at bmoffett@leeuniversity.edu. May God bless each of the contributors as they have blessed us!

"Peacemaker" CD Release

The Lee University Singers are announcing the release of their 32nd recording project, Peacemaker. This CD features songs arranged specially for the choir including the title track, Peacemaker. Other songs on the CD include classic hymns like Doxology, Praise to the Lord, and Great Is Thy Faithfulness and more contemporary songs like I Feel a Stirring by artist Geron Davis, How Deep the Father’s Love and We Have Overcome by writer Steven Carey. This recording is Dr. Moffett’s first produced CD with the Lee Singers since he became director in the fall of 2006 and it truly reflects the attitude of authentic worship held by the group. For information about ordering this CD, please contact Dr. Brad Moffett at bmoffett@leeuniversity.edu or by phone at 423-614-8252.

Off To Germany

The Lee University Singers have the opportunity to go on a mission based cross-cultural trip to Germany this May. We will be traveling to several cities including Frankfurt, Wurzburg, Heidelberg, Stuttgart, and Hoenfels Graff where they we will minister on a US Military Base. In the final few days of the trip, we will be able to interact more closely with the German culture by exploring the city of Munich, several historical sites, and even travel into neighboring countries on day trips. This experience gives us the opportunity to minister in a different culture and spread Christ’s love to people who may not hear it otherwise. While we are still working with a travel agent to finalize the details of this trip, an itinerary for the trip will be posted in a few weeks.

Lee University requires that all students complete a cross-cultural trip as credit for graduation. The university believes that experiencing another culture enhances a student’s understanding of the world we live in and gives the opportunity to carry the gospel into other countries. For many of the Lee Singers, this trip will also fulfill that requirement for graduation.

Each member of the choir will have to raise approximately $2000.00 by the beginning of March in order to participate in this endeavor. If you would like to help make this trip possible for the Lee Singers, please contact Dr. Brad Moffett at (423) 614- 8252.

Why "off the risers"?

The Lee Singers is a choir from Lee University located in Cleveland, Tennessee. The group has been singing in churches and various venues for over 45 years. The purpose of the choir is ministry, but is also used as a recruitment tool for the university. The director, Dr. Brad Moffett, is the fourth permanent director of the choir and is closing his third year with the Lee Singers. The choir sings a very diverse range of music from sacred hymns to contemporary worship songs.

This blog is created to keep donors and alumni updated on the events going on in the Lee Singers, as well as our up coming tours and performances. The blog will be maintained by students in the Lee Singers, including occassional posts from the director, the President, and student director. The blog was named "off the risers" because it will keep track of whats going on in the choir when we're not singing, performing or on the risers. It's meant to be a light-hearted forum for updates on our excursions. We hope you enjoy reading and that the God blesses you as He has us.
